Things needed:
-VXLSE3
-Adobe Photoshop (don't think it matter which version)
-Shp Builder, preferably latest build
Step 1 - Save the voxel texture
I willl be using the Apocalypse tank voxel that Stingerr has made as a demonstration.

So press Ctrl + Y, and save the texture somewhere
Step 2 -Open it up in Photoshop
This is where it counts. Using PS, you will add some effects to make it more realistic.
What I recommend using:
-Filter > Artistic > Film Grain (At the lowest setting possible)
-Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur (at 0.2 pixels, This is optional)
Result should be something like this

You can try using other techniques and doing other things in PS for a different result, but right now I believe this one is good. Once you are done, save it.
Step 3 - Apply the texture with VXLSE 3
Open up your voxel, hit ctrl + y, and load it up. Then renormalize.

Step 4 - Remove unwanted colors in palette
When importing colors, SHP builder will still use the colors that cant be used in game.
These colors are from 2-15, and 239-255
So, what you do is instead of using the script (kill colors 2-15 and 239-255), you press ctrl + B and see which colors are selected. That means that somewhere on the voxel, that color is being used.
To work around this, replace the unwanted colors with a color similar to it, that is NOT in 2-15 and 239-255. This is especially important for REMAP. For example, replace 203 with 28.

One other tip is, that before you do all this, try do darken the bottom most edges of your voxel, and randomly add some bits of black/brown/yellow, to simulate a rust effect.
