Hi, first wanted to say, kudos for this mod -- it's pretty damned awesome and high-quality!

Anyway, I've been interested in awhile now in playing both TD and TS units... together! Basically, by having the "TS MCV" buildable in the "TD War Factory", to serve as sort of a "Tier 2".

The only problem is, of course, compatibility in terms of unit stats, but I think it could be cleverly done -- perhaps by lowering the stats of TD units by 25% and/or raising TS stats by 25%, or something of the sort.

All in all, I think it'd be a very interesting thing to do. I have only the most limited amount of modding experience for TS (though I've been modding other games for years so I *slightly* know what I'm doing), so, could someone maybe point me in the right direction?

Bah. Why would you want to do that? It'd totally screw up the balance. Not to mention this mod was made to give people the Tiberian Dawn experience on the TS engine, with handy skirmish and online gaming.

Alot of people would like to see a mod/game where you can play any side from any of the games. It would be fun, and great for skrimish and the "what if.." battles. Problem is, no one will probably ever do it because it is always their first idea, and once they;ve learn to really mod, they never go back to it.

For balance/unit stats, find one unit that is present in both games, and make those two units exactly equal, and then readjust accordingling. Like if you did ra1/ra2, just make the med tank = the grizzly, and then realign according to the adjustments you made.

What I want to see is a td vs ra1 mod for ra1 (and I'm surprised they never had that in an expasion pack, 4 sides in skirmish would have been epic).

Yeah, MiGs taking on Stealt Tanks, Tesla Tanks versus Obelisks, It would actually be quite epic.

I'd like to see it mainly because I think it would be cool to see Medium Tanks fighting Tick Tanks, Mammoth vs. Cyborgs, etc. I mean, there must've been a time when the new technology in TS started appearing alongside TD-era technology; the Titan didn't replace the Medium overnight. Think of it is a "Tiberian Afternoon" #Tongue

But like I said, I know nothing about modding TS, except what I've learned in the past 3 days, which isn't much. I've figured out that most unit stat data is in rules.ini...

Actually a while back when I started to figure out how to code RTS games I'd planned a game that was in between Dawn and Sun. It was to be called Tiberian Noon, but I've never gotten around to making it.

It was going to be in today's modern sense(body armor, sensor-fused munitions, etc), unlike Dawn's 90's feel. I've already made most of the unit portraits and various units, oh and that mech from TD gold's preview for Tiberian Sun was something I'd thought about too. Well if my current project goes well I'll have a go at Noon.

Sorry to go off topic everyone, just thought I'd put it out there. Smile

That sounds like a cool mod. #Tongue Maybe we can help each other!

Btw, can I have permission to do this? Keep in mind it probably won't be editing any of the RotD-specific content or editing it in any way, and more than likely it'll just be for my own personal enjoyment and not something I'll "release" and make a big clamour about. I'm more interested in it for my own use in skirmish games, or against friends.

You can edit the mod in any form, shape or data you want, just don't...

- Distribute it (Unless it's non-profitable, and make sure it's not an entire community that dls it, rofl.)

As you stated, it's for personal enjoyment. Make sure that the MLRS stays in your comp.

Well, quite simply put, don't distribute modded versions of the ROTD mod. You can build your own mod on it, sure, but make sure anything you release in public does not contain original assets of the ROTD mod.

Of course. I imagine anything I do add can simply be in a seperate .mix file, no need to modify or re-distribute any RotD stuff.

Thanks guys!

One problem though, after figuring out all that modding crap, I've realized that there's a hefty scale difference between RotD's units and TS units... ie, the light tank is about as big as the Disruptor! As I can't seem to find a way to increase voxel sizes by less than 200% (I was thinking of simply increasing TS units by maybe 150% or so), dunno what to do...

Actually, it's not a mod. I going to code the entire game.
