The Soviets will defiantly be alot easier to balance than the russians, as they have a more complete force. Good Infantry, good vehicles. They have some pecularities that I like, and it will offer them a unique play style.
Consider their infantry. Most factions have their anti-tank and anti-air infantry combined as a rocket infantry. However, the Soviets have the tesla trooper AND the flak trooper to take up the roles respectivly. SO they will be able to stand a pretty good chance against an early tank rush, but not so much an air rush.... that is in the infantry department. They have the flak track, which has the potential to be very deadly combined with infantry while also posing a threat to the air. While not as efficent as other systems, the flak does area of affect, which can prove valuable against a large force. The flak track maybe the anti infantry unit for the soviets, but it is one of the least efficent at it. However, the soviets do have a strong infantry roster, nearly every one of their troopers is a good counter against infantry.
Their armor force is good on the whole, however they make some trade-offs. They use the v3, which wil have an epic range, but it will be to be shot down with relative ease (I'll make sure it is). Their three major tanks; the rhino, tesla, and apoc will all have their strengths. The rhino for it's efficentness, the tesla will be able to take on infantry as well as armor (it will require a generals point) and the apoc for it's stand alone abilities. The soviets only apparent weakness beside it's v3 being shot down i it's airforce.
Dont' get me wrong, kirov's and siege chopters will be able to do plenty of damage. They will have stronger armour than most aircraft, but that can be rendered useless in the right situations. The Soviets have no fighter crafts, which means that if they go all air, they will be very vulnerable. So the siege choppers and Kirovs will have to stay close to the flak tracks or risk being shot down. The siege chopper also doubles as an artillery, so it will be pretty powerful in that regards.
Almost forgot, the only unit that will be able to clear garrisons is the desolator, so that will be another weakness for the soviets. But other than that, they present a dominating ground force comprised of tough infantry and even tougher tanks. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum.
