The Neutron Tank, or XT-44 by SSIA designation is a sophisticated anti-infantry hover platform that can trace its origins to the end of the Main War.

As the SSIA folded and began evacuating that time, large chunks of the population remained active and resisting. Despite a generation of vehicles that were far superior to anything humanity could muster, the losses for the Invaders against partisans and insurgents grew steadily. To counter this new tactic, the Invaders began deploying the XT-44. Equipped with a neutron emitter, the XT-44 was almost designed purely for combating soldiers. The energy burst of the weapon projectile causes a pure emission of lethal radiation and releases no blast energy of a typical explosion. For this reason, the weapon will do no damage to radiation protected infantry or vehicles.

To address shortcomings in the vehicle, a laser system was installed on top of the tank, granting the Neutron Tank with a means to attack enemy aircraft and even enemy heavy armor. While this weapon is effective, it showed the Invaders even lacked some foresight, as it required draining reactor energy to charge the weapon, slowing the rate of fire of the emitter by an estimated 45%.

On the non-combat aspect, the Neutron Tank is a modestly armored vehicle- its single greatest benefit comes from its Class I Hover Engine, which eliminates the problem of track synthesis or repair. While the C1 Hover Engine is powerful enough to elevate the vehicle above ground, the system cannot sustain moving over water. The Neutron Tank is also equipped with an advanced sensor package capable of picking up any type of stealth.

Notes:
The XT-44 was designed to combat infantry first. Due to the low energy hover engine and this fact, the XT-44 is slower than what would be expected. It can keep up with the Invader armies, but is not good for harassing.
The XT-44 weapons are ridiculously effective on their respective targets. The neutron emitter can irradiate a large area in a single shot and the laser can down enemy aircraft and missiles in only a few shots.
The XT-44 has an armor system that follows Invader protocol- that is, thin armor of an advanced composite.
