The Ion Storm Missile is the most powerful weapon in the Forgotten arsenal, but delivering it to the enemy unharmed is a very risky move. A common tactic used by Forgotten commanders is to purchase extra missile launchers that contain no expensive warhead and use them as decoys. While the price of a missile launcher alone is high, the loss of the real ion storm missile before being able to launch it is even higher. Some commanders have even used fake missile launchers alone to force the enemy to make hasty and often disastrous moves.


If you have both fake ion storm missile launchers and a real one, you can tell the difference between them when you select the units. The real launcher will display a row of bullets at the bottom part of the selection box, while the fake ones do not. Enemy players won't be able to see the bullets, thus unable to tell the difference. Below is an example picture with fake launchers and a real one:
