Ion Storm Missile Launcher
Cost: 4500
Prerequisite: Workshop, Logistic Center, Tiberium Facility
Role: Superweapon
Strengths: Extremely devastating to bases
Weaknesses: High cost and risk involved
Ion Storm Missiles are the ultimate weapon only few forgotten factions have access to. The weapon was discovered while Tratos and his science team where studying the Tacitus on ways to prevent ion storms from forming. These missiles release materia gathered from tiberium evolved flora into the air around the detonation site. During natural ion storms there are only small quantities of this materia in the air, but the missile spreads a large concentration of the materia over a small area. This causes an extremely violent and contained, if short lived ion storm to form. The ion storm is capable of destroying entire bases. Heavier buildings, such as refineries and warfactories, are able to withstand the lightning strikes and due to their large size they attract the lightning. Since the Forgotten lack long range ballistic missiles, they have to use medium range missile launchers to deliver the weapon close enough to be fired. This naturally gives the enemy an opportunity to take it out. Once the missile is launched, the launcher vehicle is lost in the process. Friendly units are recommended to move away from the vehicle before the missile is launched. While this weapon no doubt gives the forgotten a very powerful advantage against GDI and Nod, Tratos is rumored to be very dissapointed on how good intentions turned into a weapon of mass destruction.

While the unit itself isn't anything special (no new art), i really like the idea.
Though i'm even more interested to know how you've coded the weapon. Can give some more info about that?
Are the lightning bolts the hardcoded ones converted into SHPs?
Do you use the cluster missile logic, a particlesystem or art.ini debris to create the bolts over a wide random area?
btw, can the player build 3 of these units and completely wipe out a whole base in one strike? If yes, they should get a BuildLimit imo. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
Wow. Nice idea and a neat take on weather controlling weaponry. I like this. New graphics would definitely be better though, simply because a Soviet style SSM delivering such a high-tech weapon seems goofy.
Great concept though. +10 _________________ Victory! QUICK_EDIT

Note most of the structures destroyed by the Ion Storm are weak.
Great idea, btw. _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90

Lin Kuei Ominae: The weapon first uses cluster missile logic, then those clusters create debris, and the debris logic has 4 stages which all spread the debris further. The weapon is based off this tutorial:
I also got the lightning SHPs from there. Now that you mentioned it I've updated the credits to include this, I only credited the tutorial earlier not the artwork.
Volgin: Didn't Nod use these same things to deliver the final blow to the GDI space station in the campaign? Seriously though, I didn't have any artists working specifically for the mod so I used and edited alot of the premade stuff.
This unit does have a build limit of 1, so can't use multiple ones at the same time. I forgot to mention it in the profile, but the storm also causes a medium sized EMP effect. This will hold any units in their place during and little after the storm. It also shuts down radar like the weather storm in RA2. And as you can see from the pictures, it spreads tiberium around. This will stop enemy from quickly rebuilding everything back there, and also heals forgotten units that are likely to attack after the storm. QUICK_EDIT
