End of Nations Betas
Subject description: are being released
I've been keeping my eye on End of Nations for a while, turns out their Beta is almost underway. I just scored one of their Beta keys off their facebook page, I'd like to finally see what the world's first MMORTS is all about.
I'm not so much looking forward to it as bracing myself for when it fails.
As interesting as an MMORTS might be, I'm not sure that these guys are the best people to be developing it.

I am 100 percent sure that it's not the first MMORTS. Considering it's Petroglyph, I don't think it would even be the best one. _________________ DUNK! QUICK_EDIT

So yeah, EoN is definitely not the first. DarkSpace was released a bit over 10 years ago.
I don't have time for any new games for now, I'm currently playing through ME 1 and 2 when I can. EoN doesn't look bad, I'm looking forward to see some recorded battles, especially against those giant land dreadnoughts _________________
Some of those MMORTSes are of dubious RTS-ness, though. HappyFarm, for instance, is a FarmVille clone. Monopoly City Streets was (actually, kinda clever) a huge game of Monopoly using Google Maps.
But still, you're right. It's not a very heavily attempted genre, though. So even if EoN fails completely at the very least it'll be an extremely interesting post mortem. QUICK_EDIT

Only MMORTS I've played recently is Age of Empires online. Plays like a mixture of 2,3 & Mythology but has cartoony graphics to make the game "appealing" to all age-groups.
Not much different from regular RTS, you just have a main City to upgrade your tech,accept quests,trade other players,equip items to units.
The Premium Items is what broke the game though and PRemium Only Tech, sure you had to research the techs per match. But with the sheer stat superiority of Premium Players and theyre buffed up versions of some units you were guaranteed to lose if you were Freeplay. _________________ ~ Excelsior ~ QUICK_EDIT

So no, can't tell much but heres my opinions
Anyway the game is pretty underwhelming at presently, admittedly its alpha but limited maps, faction imbalances, bugs, fixed squad size, low class visuals even at high detail settings IMO, music is genericly boring and expected more from Frank Klepacki like UAW level stuff, sound effects also generic along voices...
Yeah I'm always harsh critic but to be fair, this game does achieve team work aspect very well like me and Starkku played survival with 2 other players and everybody do their stuff without being told to do so for the common goal.
Modding, I doubt they offer this option given its always play online type much like C&C4 and frankly it does give the vibes of free game how generic most stuff is, love the unit designs/weapons however what I've seen, got style unlike EA's C&C designs majorly.
Hopefully they improve on lag aspects as even 4 player survival could actually lag, I can't imagine what its like with the 50 players on map which is currently not available to even try..we got 4 vs 4 at max AFAIK.
Failure to address lag performance and not bring enough indepth features and not getting balance right would surely doom this game so heres hoping some major developments in coming months for closed beta/open beta and release.
What there is now, is combat in low scale that is fun but I want those 50 player maps for total mayhem QUICK_EDIT
